Educational STEM Senior Set is a wooden model construction kit designed to help children explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on learning. The set includes 5 projects: Piano (music box), Worm Robot, Excavator, Ferris Wheel, and Elevator. Recommended for children ages 8+.
Features:
This is a construction kit, toy set, and educational tool all in one. By building and testing the models, children learn through experience, experiment independently, and gain a better understanding of basic physics and mechanical principles.
Each model helps children practically understand how different mechanisms work, including movement, sound, electricity, hydraulics, and energy transfer.
Assembly develops fine motor skills, spatial awareness, understanding of geometry, symmetry, and precision. Hands-on building also encourages creativity, patience, and self-confidence, as children create real working mechanisms with their own hands.
Made from high-quality, child-safe materials. The wooden parts are smooth, durable, and can be painted or varnished in your child’s favorite colors.
Clear instructions allow children to assemble all models with minimal adult supervision, making this set ideal for independent play, parent-child activities, schools, and educational institutions.
STEM (Science + Technology + Engineering + Mathematics) is an educational approach that combines these subjects into one practical learning model, helping prepare young learners for a rapidly developing technological world. This hands-on STEM tool helps children apply theory in real life. They learn to analyze why a model works or does not work, search for solutions, and correct mistakes independently.
An excellent gift choice, as well as a useful educational resource for schools and learning centers where simple, reliable, and clearly functioning teaching models are needed.
Model descriptions:
Piano (Music Box): This model uses a hand-cranked mechanism that rotates a cylinder with raised pins. As the cylinder turns, it touches metal plates or tines to produce musical sounds. Children learn about sound creation, vibration, converting mechanical motion into sound, and how musical mechanisms work.
Worm Robot: This model is powered by an electric motor that creates vibrating motion through an eccentric mechanism. Due to weight distribution and wheel design, the robot moves forward and changes direction when it hits obstacles. Children learn about vibration, friction, balance, and mechanical motion.
Excavator: This model is controlled by a hydraulic system made of syringes and flexible tubes. Pressing the control syringes transfers water pressure to the working cylinders, which move the boom, arm, bucket, and rotating base. Children gain practical understanding of Pascal’s law, hydraulics, force transfer, and lever systems.
Ferris Wheel: The model is driven by an electric motor whose shaft is connected to the main Ferris wheel axle by a tensioned rubber belt. As the motor rotates, motion is transferred through the belt-drive system, causing the wheel to turn smoothly. The cabins remain upright due to gravity and freely moving mounts. Children learn about belt drives, rotational motion, axle transmission, balance, and gravity.
Elevator: The elevator is powered by a DC motor that raises or lowers the cabin using a pulley and rope system. A control unit allows the direction of movement to be changed. Children learn about electrical circuits, motor operation, pulleys, changing force direction, and controlled mechanical movement.
Educational value:
1. Understanding Physics Principles
Each model demonstrates different laws of physics. The music box introduces sound vibration and resonance. The worm robot shows how vibration, friction, and balance affect movement. The Ferris wheel demonstrates rotational motion, gravity, and equilibrium. The elevator explains force transfer through pulleys, while the excavator demonstrates hydraulic pressure.
2. Developing Engineering Thinking
By assembling the models, children learn how to connect parts correctly, ensure structural stability, and understand how mechanisms function. The excavator demonstrates levers and hydraulic systems, the elevator teaches lifting mechanisms, and the Ferris wheel shows how stable rotating structures are designed.
3. Building Technological Literacy
The set introduces wires, battery holders, motors, and mechanical transmission components. The elevator and worm robot help children understand how electrical energy becomes movement. The music box shows how mechanical devices can perform complex functions without electricity.
4. Mathematics in Practice
Building the models develops spatial thinking, geometric understanding, and precision. While assembling the Ferris wheel, symmetry is important; the elevator requires vertical alignment and parallel movement; the excavator demonstrates correct lever angles and motion range.
5. Problem Solving and Creativity
Children learn to analyze why a model does not move correctly or stops working. If the elevator jams, the Ferris wheel turns unevenly, or the excavator hydraulics fail, they must find the cause and solve it. This develops logical thinking, patience, and confidence.
