Working principle:
This STEM educational game helps children practically understand the laws of physics and principles of mechanics.
Elastic Energy: The elastic energy of rubber bands is used and converted into motion energy during launching, which is transferred to the ball.
Potential and Kinetic Energy: Potential energy is stored in the stretched rubber band. When the trigger is pressed, it turns into kinetic energy, which is transferred to the ball and launches it.
Ballistics and Trajectory: Children can experiment with how the flight distance of the ball changes depending on the angle of the launcher or the tension of the rubber band.
Newton’s First Law (An object remains at rest or moves uniformly in a straight line unless acted upon by another force): The ball rests quietly in the magazine and does not move until acted upon by an external force. Once launched, it would continue moving straight at a constant speed if not affected by gravity, air resistance, or an obstacle.
Newton’s Second Law (The force acting on an object equals the product of mass and acceleration): If a heavier rubber ball of the same size were used instead of a light table tennis ball, it would fly much slower and a shorter distance with the same rubber band, because more force is needed to move it. If a child uses a stronger or tighter rubber band, the same light ball will accelerate much faster.
Newton’s Third Law: Action and Reaction. Although the ball is very light, at the moment of launching the rubber band pushes the ball forward, while the ball pushes the launcher backward with equal force. Holding the launcher in hand, the child can feel a slight recoil.
