DIY wooden educational STEM kit “Catapult”. The construction kit helps children discover the basics of physics, engineering, and mechanics in the simplest and most engaging way.
Features:
This is a construction kit, toy, and educational tool in one. It is a fun and educational choice for children who enjoy building, experimenting, and discovering how the laws of physics work. During assembly, the child develops fine motor skills and precision, while testing the model reinforces scientific concepts. Perfect for curious minds, it combines creativity with science, encouraging problem-solving and imaginative play. Watch as your little inventor experiments with angles and force while having fun at the same time.
Made from high-quality, non-toxic wood. The wooden parts are smooth and durable, assembled without glue. The stable construction is suitable for educational activities.
The assembled catapult can be painted, decorated, and customized by the child to create its own unique appearance.
Easy assembly: simple and clear instructions allow children to assemble the toy with minimal adult supervision, making the kit suitable for independent work or activities together with parents.
STEM (Science + Technology + Engineering + Mathematics) is an educational approach that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into a unified learning model to prepare the younger generation for the rapidly developing world of technology.
This is an excellent gift choice, as well as a useful kit for schools and educational institutions where simple, reliable, and clearly functioning teaching models are needed.
Working principle:
Elastic energy (rubber bands) is used and converted into kinetic energy to launch lightweight objects.
Educational value: potential and kinetic energy, lever principle, and Newton’s laws of motion.
Potential energy: when the child pulls the catapult arm backward, the rubber band is stretched. At that moment, energy is stored in the stretched rubber band.
Kinetic energy: when the arm is released, the stored potential energy is suddenly converted into kinetic (motion) energy, which is transferred to the launched object, causing it to fly.
Lever principle: the catapult arm works as a first-class lever. The child learns how the pivot point and the length of the lever arm determine how far and with what force an object will be launched. The longer the lever, the greater the speed its end can achieve.
Newton’s Second Law (the force acting on a body equals the product of its mass and acceleration): the child can observe that a heavier object travels a shorter distance, while a lighter one flies farther.
Newton’s Third Law: action and reaction. When the arm is released, the catapult body may move slightly in the opposite direction – this is the reaction to the force used to launch the object.
Purpose: learning at home, in the classroom, and for project-based activities.
